About Us

Kanshin Eguchi L.Ac

I was born and raised in Japan and am now a citizen of The Netherlands. I obtained license as an Acupuncture and Moxibustion in Japan in 2013. Since finishing my studies I have worked in clinics both in Japan and internationally.

Background

I was born in a Shin Buddhist temple in Kyoto, Japan where my father is the priest. When I was 9 years old, I was ordained Tokudo (entrance into Buddhist ordination) at Higashi Honganji.

Vihāra generally refers to a monastery for Buddhist renunciates in Sanskrit. The acupuncture that was introduced to Japan was based on the influence of the Yellow Emperor's classic Confucian writings, which were closely related to Buddhism. Remarkably, the Kamakura and Muromachi periods (1185-1573), it was a period where the religious cultural exchange with China became popular thus there were many acupuncturist monks who were play an important role in medicine.

Education

The apprenticeship is an indispensable part of Japanese acupuncture and moxibustion training culture. For centuries, students of oriental medicine in Japan would learn the traditional methods through close apprenticeships. Hundreds of hours direct observation, discussion and hands-on guidance allow pupils inherit their master's lifetime of treatment theories and techniques.

I attended the seminar “The Wisdom of Master Nagano Seminar Series” in 2015 presented by Tsuyoshi Shimamura in Brisbane, Australia. This event was the great turning point in my career. I learned a basic elaboration on the treatment methods he uses in his clinical approach such as diagnostic methods via pulse, channel/hara palpation, and other methods and needling techniques. The opportunity to learn from him inspired me and helped to built my skills to a high level of proficiency that allow me to achieve outstanding clinical results. I have been practicing Shimamura's style of acupuncture ever since, and I continue to refine my skills and further deepen my comprehension through his trainings.
